MashON discusses Dabble with the Startup America Partnership


During the DEMO Fall 2011 conference, our CEO Philippe Benoliel was interviewed in the Startup America HD Social Lounge to discuss the recent launch of Dabble. Startup America is an initiative in partnership with the White House, AOL founder Steve Case and Kauffman and Case Foundations to help inspire and celebrate entrepreneurship.     Partnering with TOKYOPOP, the country’s leading independent manga media company, Baker & Taylor Inc., the world’s largest distributor of physical and digital books and entertainment products, we are proud to announce the launch of the new TOKYOPOP online store.  The new shop features branded merchandise (such as iPhone and iPod device skins and mini-posters) through MashON’s e-commerce solutions and thousands of manga titles, including titles that were previously not available due to being out-of-print.  Instead of having to store inventory for these books, customers are able to order books that are printed on-demand.  This is a great opportunity to not only offer fans exclusive merchandise, but to expose the TOKYOPOP library of titles to readers who it was not previously available to.

    After transitioning from an interactive comic book software development company to an online product customization and e-commerce platform company, we decided that it was time for a bit of a facelift for the MashON logo.  We are excited to unveil a logo that better represents as a forward thinking technology company.  We hope you like it!

           

    MashON Launches New Customization Platform

    MashON is very excited to unveil the latest version of our customization tool: codename “Pyrus.”  In geek speak, Pyrus uses a cloud based, noSQL architecture and HTML, SVG and Javascript. Our Java stack utilizes GWT, Grails, Groovy, Spring Framework, Batick, JMS and Tomcat while message routing and transformation is provided by a Mule based Enterprise Service Bus. In creative speak, it’s a lighter, faster, more streamlined version of our previous application built in HTML-5!

    The new application allows users to select a product they’d like to customize, add branded images and phrases from the Vlad Tod library and immediately purchase it.  Currently, only apparel (t-shirts and hooded sweatshirts) are available for the initial release, but several additional products are slated to rollout in early 2011.

    We chose to partner with the Penguin Young Readers team because of the dedicated fan base that The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod has.  We thought fans would jump at the chance to create their very own customized fan gear…and they have. Introducing the tool to a younger audience has also confirmed for us that we’ve built an application that anyone can easily understand and use.
